Thanks to Cherrypie for alerting me to this.
Did you know that less than 0.001% of our coastline are legally protected? No. I didn't either, but I do now. If you think the government could do more to protect our marine species and the environments on which they depend please go here read the information and then download and sign the petition. Oh and get your family and friends to so too.
Thank you :-)

5 little notes:
That is absolutely f***ing ridiculous. We're an island nation for christs sake! We have no excuse. Pippa
It's as good as done. I agree with parnellpr - we are an island nation you'd think our cost line would be priority.
This was mentioned in that BBC programme called "Coast". Typical Government doesn't care if it's not been in the media!
thanks, kate, for bringing this kind of thing to light.
the condition of marine life in one place affects the condition of marine life everywhere.
as a working scuba diver i really appreciate you doing this!
thanks!
Pippa - that was pretty much what I thought - they really can do better.
Matt - you would think so, I certainly did.
Cotswoldgent - that is true. They won't act on a problem if they think we don't know about it.
Jim - glad to be able to help :-) I agree, we do need to look at the oceans as a complete entity, some of the species travel across such large areas and all are part of the overall ecosystem. What effects one species in one region has an effect on that system as a whole.
